Mechanical Design
Whether you're launching a new production process, automating a legacy system, or solving a persistent manufacturing challenge, our mechanical engineering team is ready to help you move from concept to reality. We don’t just draw machines—we design systems that perform, adapt, and improve your bottom line.
We believe in solving problems with precision, creativity, and collaboration. Every Ahaus project is powered by in-house mechanical design, integrated closely with our controls engineering, machining, fabrication, and assembly teams. This tight-knit approach eliminates friction, shortens timelines, and ensures that every system we deliver meets the real-world demands of your facility.

In-House Engineering
At Ahaus, mechanical design is handled entirely in-house, by a team that works under the same roof as the machinists, electricians, and controls engineers who will bring your equipment to life. That proximity allows us to work fast, communicate clearly, and collaborate in real time.
We don’t send designs across the country for review or wait for emails to resolve engineering questions. Our mechanical engineers are in constant communication with the rest of the project team. If an adjustment is needed, it’s made quickly. If a challenge arises, it’s solved together. That’s the benefit of keeping your project in one place—from concept through completion.

Designed for Automation
More and more of our mechanical design work includes some level of automation—and our engineers are experienced in integrating mechanical systems with robotics, sensors, conveyors, servo axes, and vision systems.
Because we have a full controls and robotics team in-house, our mechanical engineers design with automation in mind. We ensure that every component of the system—structural, moving, powered, or manual—works in harmony.
This close collaboration allows us to:
-
Avoid unnecessary design iterations
-
Reduce integration issues during assembly and debug
-
Deliver complete systems that are easier to operate, maintain, and upgrade
Workholding Systems
One of our core strengths is in the design of custom fixtures and workholding systems for use in CNC machining, welding, inspection, and automated assembly. We’ve built a reputation for designing rugged, repeatable solutions that enhance production efficiency and reduce variation.
Our fixturing designs are built to:
-
Secure complex parts during machining or assembly
-
Withstand repeated use and harsh environments
-
Allow for rapid load/unload by operators or robots
-
Integrate seamlessly with automation and controls systems
Whether it’s a precision vacuum fixture or a heavy-duty weldment holding a large casting, we build it to fit your exact needs.

Tools and Capabilities
Our mechanical design team uses the latest software and engineering tools to create reliable, adaptable, and efficient manufacturing systems. We combine solid engineering principles with hands-on experience across dozens of industries.
Our design capabilities include:
-
3D CAD modeling and assemblies
-
Mechanical motion systems, including pneumatics, servo-driven, and cam-based designs
-
Custom fixturing and tooling
-
Structural frame and guarding design
-
Weldments and precision mechanical assemblies
-
Finite element analysis (FEA) for stress and deformation prediction
-
Safety system design compliant with relevant regulations
We create detailed, production-ready models that integrate smoothly with our machining and fabrication departments. Each model is built with serviceability and longevity in mind.

The Ahaus Advantage
Every mechanical design project at Ahaus is collaborative—both internally and with our customers. We know your operators, maintenance staff, and engineers bring valuable insight to the table. That’s why we involve your team early and often, inviting feedback, validating concepts, and making sure the final system aligns with your expectations.
This approach leads to better outcomes:
-
Equipment that fits your workflow
-
Features that reflect your team’s preferences
-
Fewer surprises during commissioning
We don’t just design equipment—we design trust, usability, and long-term success.
Our Quality Objectives:
- On time delivery
- Low warranty cost
- Low rework cost
- Sustainable cost of goods sold
